Kolkata: The KMC on Wednesday conducted a surprise food-safety drive at some restaurants and makeshift food stalls in the Golpark-Gariahat belt, including on Purna Das Road and Hindusthan Road.
Deputy mayor Atin Ghosh and food-safety officers visited several restaurants along Purna Das Road. Ghosh asked the managements to ensure no half-cooked or under-prepared item is kept in the kitchens to handle the puja rush. “There is a tendency among a section of hotel and restaurant owners to partially cook food and keep it handy anticipating huge footfall during puja. This compromises the quality. Officials will revisit these places between Sasthi and Dashami. If we find the food quality compromised, we will levy heavy penalties on the owners,” he said.
The team also visited stalls near pandals on Hindusthan Road.We also published the following articles recently.
